It’s a pleasure to enjoy the Coorg landscape, complimented with the characteristic ‘Coorgi ‘hospitality. Shashi and Monappa, who have been inviting visitors to stay in their house for over 5 years, ensure that their home provides a great insight into the local lifestyle, a great base camp for shorter sight- seeing trips and the privacy one craves for on a holiday.
Centrally located and yet not in the heart of the Madikeri town, the house is named after their younger daughter, Maithili, who certainly emanates the same hospitality as her parents. The affable family is quick to include one in their home with stories about their plantations, ancestral home, their charitable involvement with an orphanage and also the latest inputs on the famous hockey grounds close to the house. Infact, if time permits, one must walk in to the well turfed field for a closer look at India’s national sport; an uncharacteristic passion over cricket amongst many of the region.
Be sure to insist on learning some recipes from Shashi, who is a passionate cook and also contributes on the same to local magazines. The time spent on the dining table will bear testimony to the variety of food she introduces to guests during their stay.
The immaculately clean house, peaceful surroundings and the warm demeanour of the hosts is sure to make your holiday wonderful.
Pets: Given that the house is full of dog lovers, they are sure that their three dogs will be equally welcoming to other pets.
