An inconspicuous road meanders off the main road, into a village, skirting a large lake. Set right in the middle of the coffee and pepper plantations, Meena and Prasad have opened their newly renovated house to guests who want a peaceful holiday in Madikeri. 6 kilometres, being a fairly long distance in the hills, pleasantly makes this a destination not busting with regular tourists.
With moderate rooms, what makes Ashiyana special is the peaceful vicinity of the location. Meena and Prasad are warm hosts, and at the same time ensure that guests get their privacy. Having been in the army for many years, they have travelled all over India and are unusually conversant in Hindi.
A great place to relax and enjoy the Coorg weather in the spotlessly clean house, with lush green surroundings.
Pets: Pets are welcome in the house and have ample place to run around, a luxury for many in the city.
Activities:
- The region is famous for both easy and higher level treks. Both can be arranged with dependable guides by the hosts on prior notice.
- The Dubare elephant camp is an interesting, though crowded spot. One can visit to take part in the elephant feeding, which is the most interesting activity around the camp. It is a short drive away from the house.
- Being tucked away in the heart of a village, one can saunter off in the idyllic village to soak in the peaceful surroundings.
- The plantations provide a place for fun and learning to engage children. Ensure that you make a trip with Prasad, so he can tell you more about the variety of plants and some great stories at the plantations.
- Try your hand at cooking some Coorgi dishes with Meena’s help.
