Goa has been flooded by resorts and hotels over the last decade, but there are few elusive places that are worth your time for the fresh perspective they throw on staying. Jan and Aarti came to the old Goa adjacent Divar Island and instantly fell in love with an old typical mansion. They set about renovating it, keeping the same aesthetic language of the place. The finished wonder is their beautiful home which they have now opened to guests, to enjoy Goa, the way they did when they first came here.

Tucked away pleasantly untouched from the touristy clamour, Divar Island is for those who want to experience Goa in a completely different way. Vast stretches of fields, a ferry to get you across and quaint small tea shops are scattered on the island – its main attraction, an old church on the hill.

Aarti and Jan’s renovated house is a great blend to have your own privacy and yet feel like family by joining in for a couple of drinks by the bar. The swimming pool adds a great touch for those who just want to catch the sun but not go all the way to the beach.
