Half submerged boats rust gracefully in the centralcanalofAlappuzhaas you enter the town on the left to head towards the Punnamada Jetty road. The languid feel of the scene is almost symbolic of how your visit to Alappuzha might be. Perfect to replicate the satisfying laziness of boats floating under the shade of trees, is a homestay called “GreenVillage”. Off the main Jetty road, one is met with bright, nature inspired illustrations on a yellow wall. The newly constructed homestay is owned by Mr. Anthony and Josmy with their two children.
Close to the starting point of the illustrious Nehru Snake Boat Race, it is a perfect stop if you can manage to make it in the second Saturday of August. Walking distance from the venue, you are sure to get good seats along with the villagers. Just over an hour’s drive fromCochinAirportand about 5 kilometers from the Alappuzha railway station, the location is aptly away from the bustling town.
With a large courtyard in front, 5 spacious rooms, including 2 suites are impeccably clean and comfortable. Large sit outs with pillars and spacious rooms are equipped with A/Cs and TVs. A unique architectural feature, a line of holes near the top of the roof, allows natural light in the rooms. These are also great for ventilation in the sultry weather of Alappuzha. A fresh break from the typical Kerala architecture, the house is a modern structure with slight nuances of traditional designs.
